The Begining
When did you first start painting? Was there a moment when you decided to take painting more seriously?
I started painting during the pandemic because I felt like it helped with my anxiety. In 2021 I decided to paint something everyday and that was when I felt I started really growing as an artist.
What made you choose watercolor painting as your primary form of expression?
I was gifted a watercolor set and really liked the medium and just continue to explore with it. I really liked that it didn't require a lot set up wise.
How has your artistic direction changed over time?
I've shifted from a traditional color palette and have started exploring with a lot of different colors that have influenced my painting style. My work has a whimsical, fairy-tale feel because of my color palette.

Pratice & Materials
What’s the most difficult watercolor habit to master?
The practice of painting consistently to grow as an artist.
What role does planning vs. spontaneity play in your watercolor process?
I like to paint from reference photos (more planned out) and rely less on intuitive painting (spontaneity). I think it depends on the artist's style.
What qualities do you look for in high-quality art supplies?
I buy a lot of supplies and at the end of the day the qualities may range but it's what helps me to achieve what I am wanting to paint.
How did Artify make you feel as a creator?
I really love Artify brushes. There is a variety of brushes which I love. They are affordable and I feel comfortable recommending them. But most importantly they work well.
What advice would you give when choosing brushes or paints?
Dont be afraid to try different supplies and choose what works the best for you. If someone tells you a certain supply is amazing, it could be great for them but you won't know until you try it yourself. Every artist is unique and has their own preferences.

Reflection & What's Next
How do you feel your work has matured over the years?
I think my work has improved in terms of mastering the looseness in painting my watercolor subject which is landscapes.
What are you currently working toward as a painter?
To remember to paint for myself.
What advice would you give to artists who are just starting their journey?
You will be so surprised in yourself if you paint consistently. Believe in yourself!

Yes to all of this! Thank you for showcasing an artist who creates beautiful art and also reminds us that each person/ artist is unique. Reminding us that art we create for ourselves, in whatever manner we need it, is the “best” art.
