For Katsuki, drawing has always been a way to connect with the characters and stories that captured his imagination.
Inspired by animation, games, and comics, he brings beloved characters to life while continually developing his own artistic style. From colorful fan art to annual personal projects, his work reflects both a passion for pop culture and a genuine love of character design.
In this interview, he shares how animation first inspired him to draw, the creative influences that shaped his journey, and the characters that continue to fuel his imagination.

Where the Characters Begin
What first drew you to character-based artwork?
Since I was little, I grew up watching animated shows that made me wonder, “Could I create something like that?” Seeing memorable and eye-catching characters inspired me to start drawing.
What influences have shaped the worlds and characters you create?
Some shows left a lasting impression on me and played a huge role in inspiring me to keep drawing, especially Five Nights at Freddy’s High School (FNAFHS) and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (MLP).
How has your artistic style evolved over time?
I can honestly say I’ve improved tremendously. I feel like I’m on a great path, doing what I truly love.
How do games, animation, or comics inspire your work? Are there recurring themes that naturally appear in your art?
Absolutely! I love drawing characters from Genshin Impact. Their designs are so beautiful that it’s impossible not to draw them again and again. I also enjoy drawing many anime characters.
Could you share your favorite piece of work at this stage and introduce it briefly?
My favorite artwork is usually my newest one. Recently, I created my Meet the Artist 2026 illustration, something I make every year. Honestly, I loved everything about it—from the perspective to the colors, which turned out exactly the way I imagined.
How would you describe your artistic universe to someone encountering it for the first time?
It’s compllicated! I love drawing my original character (OC), but I’m also passionate about using vibrant colors and creating dynamic poses with strong perspective.
Between Sketchbook and Screen
Do you prefer traditional or digital art?
I love both traditional and digital art—I honestly couldn’t choose just one.
Is there one art tool you couldn’t live without?
Like I said, I love both techniques, but my sketchbook is incredibly important to me.
How do you decide which medium is right for a particular piece?
I don’t think it depends on the medium itself. It really depends on what you want to create.
What’s your favorite traditional art medium or technique?
I love working with gouache. One of my favorite parts of the process is outlining the artwork. Using fine brushes feels amazing, and creating hair textures with brushes is especially satisfying.
How have Artify tools supported your sketchbook or illustration process, if at all?
I usually rely on three essential brushes. I use a fine Artify brush for outlining, a slightly thicker Artify brush for filling small areas, and a much larger brush for bigger sections like skin, clothing, and hair. These three brushes are incredibly important to me.
What challenges come with switching between traditional and digital work?
For me, there isn’t much of a challenge. I approach both traditional and digital art in a very similar way, so I adapt comfortably to both mediums.
Expanding the Universe
How do you see your artistic world evolving in the future?
I’d like to think it will stay the same—just even better. Haha.
Are there stories or characters you hope to develop further?
Definitely! I have a really exciting story that I’d love to turn into a comic someday.
What creative challenges are you most excited to explore next?
I’d love to create my comic, and I’d also like to improve my animation skills.
How would you like people to connect with your characters?
I hope everyone connects with it in their own genuine way. It’s hard to explain because the experience will be different for each person.
What’s next for you as an artist?
I want to keep creating content for my social media platforms and YouTube, and continue sharing my art with more people.
